Elder Pamella Burton is the youngest of seven children born to the late Deacon Detroit Burton and the late Mother Odell Hockaday Burton. After graduating from Wake Forest Rolesville Senior High School in 1972 she continued her education through Wake Technical College with an AA degree in Secretarial Science/1974, Business Computer Programming/1985, Early Childhood Education and Daycare Certification/2010; and a BA Degree in Psychology/Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC/1980. After 30 years of service, she retired from NC Government. Having recommitted her life to God in 1985 she was water baptized and moved her membership to Spring Street Christian Church. She has served as Sunday School Teacher on all levels; Sunday School Superintendent; Church Secretary; Choir President; Praise and Worship Team Leader. In 2004, she began training under the leadership of Overseer Angela Bullock—realizing that God calls ordinary people like herself to tell other ordinary people about the Good News of Salvation.

In 2008, she was ordained “Elder” under New Smyrna Diocese of Washington, DC, and served as the Associate Pastor at Spring Street Christian Church. Elder Burton has completed several courses in Religion and Biblical Studies through Beacon University of Columbia, GA.  She is a 2020 graduate, Regent University, Virginia Beach, VA earning her Master of Divinity in Practical Theology degree.

In her words, “She is humbled and thankful for this next step on her journey home to serve as Assistant Pastor helping others recognize our need for Christ—to turn to Christ and repent—and above all to trust Christ to come into our lives, forgive our sins and make us all what He wants us to be.
